YORK -
Dozens of York County bikers brought a truckload of food to area charities.
The riders from the Star Motorcycle Club Chapter 441 in Hanover delivered more than 1,200 boxes of food as part of a special ride Saturday morning from the York Galleria mall to the York County Food Bank.
About 30 riders from the motorcycle club unloaded more than 16,000 lbs. of food from an 18-wheeler. The truck is from the national charity Feed the Children.
"I'm so happy. I'm really, really, really happy," Jural Toby from Harvest of Blessing Food and Clothing Bank in York said. Toby's organization is one of several that got a share of the food on the truck.
"I have always wanted Feed the Children trucks to come here. This is our heart's desire, to stomp out hunger one family at a time," she said. "Now we can give people more than just enough, just for one day. Now they'll have enough for a week."
Star Motorcycle Club riders raised the money to bring the big rig to York during an event in Gettysburg in August. This is the second time they've been able to bring a Feed the Children truck to the area.
"It makes you feel really good when you're helping people out, especially people in your community," chapter president Andrew Zendek said. "That's what we're here for. That's what our chapter wants people to know. We're out here helping support our community."
The food on the truck will help feed 400 local families.
"The holidays are coming up. Demand for food is high. Food banks are running low," chapter member Bret Fadely said. "Just for us to give this to them, it's tremendous. It's a great feeling."
"If I had 10,000 tongues, I couldn't thank them enough," Jural Toby said.
