An MSN report says H1N1 can pass from cash to human if an infected person sneezes or coughs directly onto their cash, and then an uninfected person touches it while the virus is still active. That person then needs to immediately touch either their nose or their mouth. It's a chain of events that might be rare, but some local businesses that deal with cash are taking precautions.

At First Capital Federal Credit Union in West Manchester Township, York County, employees are wearing latex gloves while they handle cash or pay slips. They've also put out antibacterial and have increased their cleaning schedules.

Linda Thompson is the Human Resources Manager and says she sees just how easily germs can spread. "It's on cash, withdrawl slips, everything. Especially at the end of the week when we are dealing with a high amount of transactions. We're taking steps to keep our employees and members healthy."
