Latest Budget Proposal Targets Small Games Of Chance Many York Groups Rely On
The latest version of the state budget targets small games of chance. For many local groups that rely on fundraisers like bingo nights, that is bad news.

The Knights of Columbus out of York Haven hold bingo nights every Tuesday evening. The money they raise is used to benefit the many charities they support. They say bingo is what brings the people in, but it's not where they make their cash. That comes from those small chance games like pull tabs and raffle tickets.

This proposed budget could tax the profits of those games by as much as 20%. David LaForme is the treasurer for The Knights bingo night. He has a message for lawmakers. "Leave the non-profits alone. That is what we are: non profit. We feel targeted. You couldn't have picked on a better group than fundraisers."

The budget proposal still needs to be signed for this new small games of chance tax to take effect.

Bingo profits would not be taxed.
