500 people in York get a warm meal, courtesy of a city restaurant. "wHoly Chicken" gave away free chicken dinners in the spirit of Thanksgiving. The meals were given out from noon to 5 o'clock Wednesday afternoon at the restaurant on East Philadelphia Street.

Owner Edgar Rodriguez says, "we're living in a time where people need hope and encouragement and that's why we're here."

Ebony Dickerson is a mother of five and taking advantage of the free meals. She says, "I'm glad there's places that are trying to help people that can't afford to feed themselves right now and we'll be going to the church later today."

Shannon Garcia, also waiting in line for free dinners says, "I think it's wonderful and we thought we can use this for dinner for the kids."

Dozens of volunteers pitched in to help feed the crowd.

Rodriguez says, "it's all about giving back."

Garcia says, "these folks who are willing to pitch in and help the community, it's really nice."

The meals also included salad, rice and bean, all for free to those in need.
