SPRINGETTSBURY TOWNSHIP, YORK COUNTY - In just four hours time, members of the York County community raised more than $600.00 to help a local "Lieutenant." His name is "Lou," he's a vital member of the Sheriff's Department, has four legs and a notorious nose! "Lou" is a two year old bloodhound, who's called to action when children in our area are reported missing. Since starting the job last March, he's been called out 17 times.

Sgt. Sam Shipley, "Lou's" handler with the York County Sheriff's Department says, "we've helped find a woman who wandered away from her farm in the middle of the night and helped locate her, got called for a missing child."

Those successes require intense training. "Lou" has several sessions a week, four to eight hours at a time. That cost adds up, so on Tuesday night, Isaac's Restaurant & Deli on Whiteford Road in Springettsbury Township donated 25-percent of all food sales to the York County Missing Child Task Force, to help care for "Lou."

Isaac's Assistant Manager Josh Smith says, "as a company we believe in giving back to the community and in part of doing that, it has to do with community night fundraisers where we take 25% of sales and give back to the community."

Customer Ed Gosnell of Shiloh says, "I think he does a good job, I think we need him, he finds lost children and people who have dementia so, we like to support him."

Sgt. Shipley says, "he's a benefit to the citizens of York County, he's a benefit to the citizens of the Commonwealth because he could go to Lancaster County, Adams County, Dauphin County, wherever he is needed."
