When state workers were told this week they would be able to get loans to make up for their lack of a paycheck because of the budget delay, many breathed a sigh of relief. For some, it was just a quick breath before the panic set in though.

A state worker says she can't take advantage of the loans because of her credit history. "You contact places on the list, and find out if you don't have great credit you are stuck in the same spot."

She's not alone. Another state employee says she was denied a line of credit and worries about how she'll survive financially without income. "Your job that you depended on, that took some pressure off you, is now putting more pressure on you. How can you say how much a person can take?"

A representative for PSECU, just one of many banks offering assistance to state workers, says they have helped over 30,000 state employees. He says they wish they could help them all, but they have to protect their business and their members. He encourages anyone who works for the state to contact PSECU if they have questions.
