Taking in deer to raise as pets is illegal in the state of Pennsylvania. For one family in Perry County, they learned the hard way. The King family found a sick fawn and raised it for 9 years. Recently the State Game Commission came and took the deer and released it into the wild. They said it's not fair for the pet to be taken from it's natural habitat or safe for people to care for them. The family said they are worried their domesticated pet may not survive in the wild.

"I think they should have used some common sense and say this deer, it's been 9 years, been fed all his life, they know well enough he won't survive on his own," said pet owner Samuel King.

"The fact is if you take something illegally you can't keep it," said Jerry Feaser, Press Secretary for the Pennsylvania Game Commission.
