The Consumer Product Safety Commission is recalling two products that could potentially hurt or even kill babies and toddlers.
First, about 400,000 drop-side cribs, manufactured by Simplicity are being recalled. The government says the crib's hardware can break or deform and create a gap between the mattress and side of the crib. The space is large enough for a child to get stuck, leading to entrapment or suffocation.
The second recall involves 4-million inflatable baby swimming floats. The fourteen different float models are made by Aqua Leisure Industries. Officials say the leg straps in the seat of the floats can tear and cause children to unexpectedly fall into the water and possibly drown. 31,000 such incidents have been reported, but no one has been injured.
