Pennsylvania Department of Health to Distribute Radiation Pills
RADIATION PILLS - State officials are distributing fresh potassium iodide tablets, or KI tablets, to residents who live or work within 10 miles of one of the state's five nuclear power plants. The tablets can partially protect the thyroid gland from radiation exposure in the event of a nuclear accident. Tablets that were previously distributed to residents expired on August 31. Officials from the state Department of Health will grant interviews at the following distribution sites on Tuesday.

10 a.m. - Noon. GILBERTSVILLE - Hope Community Church, 2732 North Charlotte Street, Gilbertsville.

10 a.m. - Noon. NANTICOKE - Public Safety Training Institute, Luzerne County Community College, 1333 South Prospect St., Nanticoke.

10 a.m. - Noon. NEW CUMBERLAND - Fairview Township Fire Department, 340 Lewisberry Road, New Cumberland.

1:30 - 3:30 p.m. BEAVER - State Health Center, 300 South Walnut Lane, Beaver.

Location: Officials will distribute tablets from 11:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. at more than a dozen sites within 10 miles of the state's five nuclear power plants, and schools in those areas may also distribute tablets to students. For details, see Web site below.
