YORK -
People with outstanding warrants in York County will have a chance to turn themselves in for the next two days and clean their record. The program, called Operation Clean Slate, partners the York County Sheriff's Office with the faith-based community in York to bring those with warrants out to a church to get them cleared.
Operation Clean Slate mirrors similar programs run by the U.S. Marshals Office. The idea, give people with warrants a chance to turn themselves in a church. The York County Sheriff's Office will then process the warrants and the wanted person can be seen by a judge right then and there. If everything goes well, the person with the warrant will be able to walk in and walk out and have the situation cleared from their record.
After the person sees a judge and has the warrants cleared, other services are available. Services like counseling and CareerLink will be at the Bible Tabernacle Church, willing and ready to help those affected.
Clean Slate runs two days, Thursday and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bible Tabernacle Church at 361 South Pine Street in York.
