CHANCEFORD TOWNSHIP, YORK COUNTY -
A teenager ridng an ATV died when she lost control of the vehicle yesterday.
Rachel Shoup, 15, died from head trauma, according to York County Deputy Coroner Steve Cosey.
Shoup died around 3 p.m. when she lost control of her ATV for unknown reasons and crashed into a fence along the 300 block of Sechrist Flat Road.
Both Shoup and her 14-year-old passenger were thrown from the ATV. The passenger went to York Hospital severe head trauma.
Shoup was not wearing a helmet. The 14 year-old passenger was.
Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the crash.
Red Lion School District is closed today, but crisis intervention counselors will be on hand today after 1pm for anyone who needs help coping with this tragedy at Cornerstone Community Church, on Pond Road in Felton.
