CARLISLE, CUMBERLAND COUNTY -
The Cumberland County District Attorney has charged 18 county residents, including a college professor of possessing child pornography. The arrests were announced Friday following a year long computer forsenic investigation called Operation Child Safe Haven.
Three of the accused are 15 year old juveniles. Ages of the 15 adults range from their 20s to the mid 50s. Dickinson College political science professor John Ransom is among the suspects. He is accused of having two images depicting child pornography on a computer storage device at his home. The 55 year old Ranson been an associate professor of political science at Dickinson since 1992. He was immediately placed on paid leave by the college following the accusations.
Careers of the other suspects include a banker, a truck driver and even a professional male dancer. All the suspects are scheduled to have preliminary hearings next Wednesday.
