Harrisburg Police have arrested and charged the man involved in a double-fatal car crash that occurred early Saturday morning on October 3, on the Market Street Bridge.
30 year old Andrew Denezza, of the 3900 block of Brisban Street in Swatara Twp., turned himself into police late this morning without incident. Denezza has been charged with two counts of homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence and one count each of aggravated assault by vehicle while driving under the influence, driving under the influence, driving on the right side of the roadway, careless driving, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
The deadly accident happened at 2:35 a.m. early Saturday morning, October 3, when police were called for a report of a head-on collision. A taxi cab, traveling westbound towards Wormleysburg, was struck head-on by a vehicle traveling eastbound towards downtown Harrisburg.
The eastbound vehicle, traveling in the left lane of the two lanes heading into the city, crossed the median line and into the extreme right lane of the two lanes heading to the West Shore, striking the Capital City Taxi head-on. From the impact, the taxi then struck a bridge pier before coming to rest back in the roadway.
The driver of the eastbound car was identified as Andrew Denezza. Denezza He, was able to exit the vehicle and was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the taxi cab, 34 year old Michael Amissah, of Harrisburg, was extricated from the cab. He was later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Two passengers in the taxi, 28 year old Kristin Bowser, of Camp Hill, was pronounced dead at the scene from injuries. The second passenger, 31 year old Christopher Bowser, of Camp Hill, sustained multiple critical injuries.
