Can Harley-Davidson afford to keep motorcycle plants in Wisconsin? Video
Harley-Davidson Inc. management informed employees Thursday that it is in the midst of a study to determine whether it is financially feasible to keep manufacturing operations in Wisconsin. This, according to The Business Journal. more
At the event, thousands of attendants enjoyed the music of Joel Menchey, Smokin' Gunnz, and the Martini Bros. Pennsylvania lawmakers, after hearing about FOX43's event, specifically requested to use it as a podium to address the people including Governor Ed Rendell. Hundreds of bikers put their rides on display in a public exhibition, and hundreds more joined Harley fan and FOX43 News anchor Evan Forrester on a Ride Across York County.
Immediately following the Save Our Plant Ride & Rally, Evan took a small posse of bikers on a multi-day, cross-state motorcycle convoy to Harley headquarters in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They delivered a petition, signed by thousands of local residents, entreating Harley-Davidson to keep the plant operating and viable in York. FOX43 put together a half-hour special commemorating the events of the Ride & Rally and Evan's Ride to Milwaukee. FOX43 News also travelled to Shelbyville, Indiana, which was one of the sites rumored to be in contention for the location of the re-structured Harley plant.
Although the ultimate fate of York's Harley-Davidson plant remains in the hands of Harley executives, FOX43 is proud to have joined York County in celebrating the legacy, the passion, and the people of York's history with Harley-Davidson.
"I just wanted to express my sincere 'Thank You' to you and your team at FOX43 for all of the support you have given and continue to give in keeping Harley Davidson in York - it is very much appreciated! Every time I go on line to view the latest updates and videos concerning Harley, I find it difficult to watch because I tear up. The pride and passion is evident and I am praying that Harley stays in York." - Sue, York
"Thank you and your station for a wonderful show of support for workers in York County. I can not begin to imagine the time and effort that was needed for the Ride and Rally." - Eugene and Donna, Glen Rock
"To Evan Forrester and all the staff at FOX43 News, I want to extend my thanks for the great ride and events at the stadium today. My husband and I went on the ride and as we rode, it brought tears to my eyes as I looked at all the people along the roads who were there to support the Harley Plant." - Pam and Steve, Dover
"We appreciate the time and effort you gave in organizing the event. Thanks again!" - Former York Mayor John Brenner
