Update: Man charged with arson after home goes up in flames in Bethel Township

Fire could be seen from the third floor when crews arrived on scene, just after 3:15 p.m. Thursday.

UPDATE (Jan. 16): A Fredericksburg man is facing charges for arson, recklessly endangering another person, and disorderly conduct, after investigators determined he intentionally set fire to his home, according to police.

The investigation into the fire led officials to discover McKerns intentionally ignited the fire on the third floor of his home using gasoline and a lighter, police said.

McKerns was taken into custody and admitted to starting the fire, police said.

Damages due to the fire are estimated at $75,000.

PREVIOUS: One man is displaced after a two-alarm house fire in Bethel Township, Lebanon County. 

Fire crews were called to the 300 block of Mountain Drive around 3:15 p.m. Thursday for a house fire. 

Fredricksburg Volunteer Fire Company Chief Snader says fire could be seen from the third floor when they arrived and they were able to get it under control in about 15 minutes. 

No word on what caused the blaze. 

One man is displaced as a result.
